Jiřina Šiklová Library

Our library is the largest public library specialized on feminist and gender topics in Central and Eastern Europe.
Our collection was founded as a personal library of Jiřina Šiklová, a famous Czech gender studies and social work expert. It was developed on a community basis in cooperation with Czech, European and American feminist and women’s organizations, universities and individuals. Book donations are still an important resource.
Our collection also contains an archive of Eliška Krásnohorská and other leading personalities from the beginning of Czech women’s movement and from history of women’s education. Special part of our collection is a set of spoken interviews with female witnesses of the historical events of the 20th century obtained by the method of feminist oral history.
