FORWARD, in collaboration with @thefeministlibrary is proud to present a special screening of Moolaadé, a landmark film by the legendary Senegalese director Ousmane Sembène.
Set in a small village in Burkina Faso, Moolaadé tells the story of Colle, a courageous woman who dares to challenge deep-rooted patriarchal traditions. When she offers sanctuary or “moolaadé” to a group of young girls fleeing the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), she ignites a fierce conflict between age-old customs and the universal call for human rights and dignity.
Through vibrant storytelling, Sembène weaves a narrative that is as culturally rich as it is politically urgent one that continues to resonate over two decades after its release.
This screening is especially meaningful: 20 years ago, Sembène himself reached out to FORWARD to support the London premiere of Moolaadé. We are deeply honoured to revisit and celebrate this story of African women’s resistance once again in commemoration of our 40th year anniversary.
✨ Expect an inspiring evening filled with bold storytelling, cultural reflection, and space for discussion about the global movement to end FGM and champion women’s rights.

Die Radioredaktionsgruppe Women on Air feiert 20 jähriges Bestehen. Seit 20 Jahren macht die offene Redaktion wöchentlich die Sendung Globale Dialoge auf Radio Orange 94.0 und bringt Stimmen von Frauen und FLINTA aus dem sogenannten globalen Süden hinters Mikro und in eure Ohren. Doch es ist nicht nur Zeit zum Feiern, sondern auch Zeit zum Kämpfen: nach langjähriger Zusammenarbeit hat die Austrian Development Agency dem Projekt restlos die Förderung gekürzt.
Mit Tania Napravnik, Projektkoordinatorin, Pia Steiner, Projektassistenz, und den Radiomacherinnen Ulrike Bey und Agnes Sieben hat Andreea Zelinka über die Redaktionsgruppe, das Sendungenmachen und die Zukunft gesprochen.

Was für ein Abend! Unser ausverkauftes Theater-Dinner „How to date a feminist“ im IKOB Eupen war ein voller Erfolg – und bleibt sicher noch lange in Erinnerung.
🎟️ 40 Gäste kamen stilvoll in Pink & Black, genossen ein sorgfältig komponiertes Dinner von FoodInk, begleitet von erlesenen Weinen des Restaurants Finefood – und erlebten dazwischen vier pointierte Akte des Theaterstücks „How to date a feminist“, gespielt von Nicole Baltus und Jörg Lentzen.
Zwischen Lachen, Nachdenken und Applaus wurde deutlich: Feminismus kann unterhaltsam, berührend und köstlich zugleich sein. Die Begeisterung war spürbar – im Raum, in den Gesprächen, im Applaus.

✍️ Helene Lange & Gertrud Bäumer waren zentrale Figuren der deutschen Frauenbewegung und trafen sich Ende 1896 zum ersten Mal, als erstere bereits eine der angesehensten Persönlichkeiten der bürgerlichen Frauenbewegung war. Gertrud Bäumer stand damals noch am Anfang ihres Engagements. Sie schufen eine „Wahlfamilie“, arbeiteten eng zusammen und gaben sich gegenseitig Rückhalt. (Biografien, Werke, Briefwechsel, z.B. BG.03.LANGE.001, FE.06.166, BG.01.018-a & BG.01.004)
✊ Rosa Luxemburg & Clara Zetkin waren ebenfalls Persönlichkeiten der Arbeiter- und Frauenbewegung, die rasch zu engen politischen Weggefährtinnen wurden.
